Archaeological Dig

We officially started our history curriculum two weeks ago.  We are using hybrid of two history curriculums Mystery of  History (MOH) and Story of the World (SOTW).   MOH is serving as our spine and SOTW is our secondary guide.   Our first lesson was called "What is History?".  We learned how archaeologist excavate, preserve and study artifacts in order to learn more about cultures  in the past.
Digging and marking the spot where artifacts were found
Dinosaur Bone: First find of the day!
Excavating: Looking for artifacts
Plotting out artifacts finds on graph paper.

Focus and excitement: What can it be?

Jewels in found during dig
Documenting the find
More documenting

History and Geography Notebook: The one top half is copywork and the bottom half is a mini picture book. (As we study out different historical events we will file them under the corresponding continent or miscellaneous tab).
